How to Print Test Page in a Printer

You just installs your new printer on your desktop and likes to see everything works perfectly. Make sure your printer power cables on connected to the power and switched on. Check the cable between your computer and printer is properly connected. Also, make sure you have installed the required printer software correctly. Ok, now we will take a Printer Test Page to make sure your printer is perfectly installed and works with no problem.

To do that, double click My Computer and point to Printers (windows 98, ME & 2000) and Faxes (windows XP). In there you can see your new printer installed. Right on the New Printer icon and select Properties. In the properties dialog box under the General tab, you can see a Print Test Page button.

Just click on the button and your printer will automatically prints a page. If the printout is not coming properly, check the troubleshooting in the printers help page and make the necessary changes.

We can’t explain a specific printer, because of lots of printers available in the market like Laserjet, Inkjet, Deskjet etc. from companies like HP, Canon etc. But, with every printer you’ll get the installation CD and with that you can find the installation manual to install and troubleshooter help file, if you found any difficulties on working with your printer. If its all done, then you have perfectly installed your new printer and ready to take printouts.

How to Center Align the Page in MS Excel

Many people struggles to align the content of page to the center and takes printouts. Here is a quick guide to easily rectify the issue.

After finishes the work in excel, click File–> Page setup. In the Page setup menu click Margins and you can see the option in the below Center on page.

Tick mark Horizantally check box to make the page Horizantally center and tick mark the Vertically check box to make the page vertically center of the page and click ok and you’re done.

How about using the shortcut keys in MS-Word to work more efficiently? Most of the shortcut keys uses the Ctrl key and a letter, also some shortcut keys uses the shift key as well. Here some shortcut keys (also called hot keys), where we use regularly on MS-Word

How to display shortcut keys
If you cant remember these shortcut keys, you can easily customize to display the shortcut keys when you mouseover on the buttons. To dispaly the shortcut keys, click Tools->Customize->Options. In the options tickmark the Show ScreenTips on toolbars and Show shortcut keys in ScreenTips to activate and click close. Now just hold your mouse on the toolbar buttons it will display the shortcut key for that specific button. This option will change all your office suits like MS-Excel, MS-Powerpoint etc.

Renaming Digital Pictures Automatically in Windows XP

Have you stored lots of photos in a folder with file names like picture_1.jpg, picture_2.jpg etc. If its only few photos and you have time, then easily it can renamed manually for every photos. But, the number of photos is large and eventually you will get frustrated to rename each photos. If your OS (operating system) is Windows XP, there is an easy option to do this automatically.

Open the folder that has the photos and select View -> Thumbnails. Click the last picture in the folder and hold down the Shift key and click the first picture, this will select all photos. Right click the first photo and click rename from the menu and Windows XP will highlight the file name for that first photo and you can give a suitable name. After you types the name just click in the white space outside of the photo and simply watch as Windows XP does the trick and renames the entire photos with sequential number to each and every photo in the folder. In this way you can rename other folders that has the photos.
