Everyone wants to have friends. But mere wishing does not create friendship among human beings.
Do not be sorry for yourself because you have no friends and blame your family, looks or clothes or search for other causes beyond yourself. Rather constructively examine your weak and strong point, your faults and virtues.
Rejoice over your good points and correct your failings as far as you can, then forget them. Once you recognise your own limitations and accept yourself, you will be ready to accept others as they are, without trying to reform them, to suit your taste.
Do not see everything from your own personal point of view, or for just your material benefits. Zero in some attention on people and interest outside yourself.
Join groups or teams of your age, who do the things you like to do. Take part cooperatively in community projects and developments and the affairs of your neighbours. Kindness and generosity are the twin virtues to develop are most important. You will soon gain friends who can count on your loyalty.
Friendship is a give and take affair. It is as necessary to know how to receive, as to reciprocate, if it is to unfold or develop fruitfully.
Smile at people instead of not looking at them. Remember names and use them when addressing people. Do not under estimate others and not make feel small. Never hurt the other person’s self-esteem, because nobody likes his self-respect to be humiliated or threatened or made to feel that he is petty.
Lastly be friendly with life for what it offers you and relax from dissatisfaction and tension.
